Learn How to Give Massages
Becoming
a massage therapist is an exciting, fun, and rewarding challenge
in which you will experience life changing personal growth while
creating a great career for yourself helping and caring for others.
In just seven months a Utah College of Massage Therapy graduate
can have a great job working almost anywhere in the country. Today,
there are more opportunities for UCMT graduates than ever before,
including: learn how to give massages, sports massage, clinical
massage, corporate massage, private practice, the medical field,
infant massage, rehabilitation, health and wellness centers, and
geriatric massage. No matter which field you choose, the possibilities
are endless. As part of the Professional Massage Therapy Program
curriculum, a student completes a comprehensive Professional Development
course. This course includes techniques of enrollment, starting
and operating a massage therapy business, presentation, advertising,
resumé writing, job interviewing skills, and the integration of
sound business practices with a holistic approach to health care
all while you learn how to give a massage. Students participate
in the Clinical Internship, which provides them with on-the-job
training in preparation for working professionally. In the Professional
Massage Therapy Program, students learn light energy work as well
as structural bodywork modalities, Eastern as well as Western theory
and technique, and how to treat specific pain and dysfunction as
well as a holistic approach to health and healing.
Our Clinical Career Track
Program prepares students to learn how to give massages to who suffer
from specific pain and dysfunction resulting from diagnosable somatic
disease such as chronic low back pain, migraine headaches, temporal
mandibular joint syndrome, Osgood-Schlatter disease, carpal tunnel
syndrome, sciatic pain, and stress-related diseases. The UCMT Family
of Schools is committed to the success of each student and graduate.
The Career Services Department offers a comprehensive career counseling
program and many career opportunity listings. The Career Services
Department supports students and graduates in obtaining part-time
or full-time employment in the field of massage therapy and in setting
up private massage therapy practices. The UCMT Family of Schools
Career Services Department is devoted solely to developing the job
market, to counseling students and graduates, teaching them how
to give massages, and to referring graduates to employers.
