Sylvia Clark

Sylvia Clark graduated from the Professional Massage Therapy Program at the Salt Lake campus of the Utah College of Massage Therapy Family of Schools in March of 2000. After completing the Professional Program, Sylvia enrolled in the Clinical Career Track, which she completed in June of 2000. Since completion of the Clinical Career Track, Sylvia has moved to Milton-Freewater, Oregon and is currently working at First Impressions, a full-service salon and spa in Walla Walla, Washington as well as running her own business out of a chiropractic office. She recently sent the following letter to the Salt Lake City Career Services office:

"[I] just wanted you all to know that my boss at First Impressions is VERY impressed with my skills. She says I’m the best massage therapist they have ever had! [She] started the spa 3 years ago and has gone through a lot of therapists because they couldn’t grow the client base. I started getting repeat and referral clients after [only the first] four months. She believes it is because I’m so good. I tell her it is because I went to the best school and worked my butt off…

"On average I do 4-6 massages a day at the spa along with facials and wraps. Between my two jobs I use everything I learned from every class and wish I had learned more. I really appreciate the Clinic. It really helped me feel comfortable when I had my first client because I knew what I was doing and was confident. I know that there isn’t a single person that walks through my door that I can’t help in a relaxing or therapeutic way.

"I tell everyone that asks me where I went to school ‘the Best, UCMT!’ Keep up the standards for your students because that’s what they are judged by… make them sweat a little. They will thank you in the end. Thanks for a wonderful education!"
