Stayce Tate

Stayce Tate graduated from the Utah Valley Campus of the Utah College of Massage Therapy Family of Schools in March of 2001. In April of 2001, UCMT hosted a recruiting event for the Spa at the Ritz-Carlton located in Half Moon Bay, California. Stayce’s vision included working in a resort spa atmosphere, so she jumped at the opportunity to interview.

The Utah Valley Career Services office had a recent conversation with Stayce in regards to her experience in the spa as well as her decision to become a massage therapist. The following is what Stayce had to say about her experience:

"When you work in a spa you are over all, pretty busy. You always work weekends, but it’s nice because you don’t have to do any advertising the clients just come to you kind of like the Clinical Internship. I have been trained to perform a variety of treatments such as mud wraps, pumpkin peels & hydro tubs. I make decent money & the nice thing is that you are guaranteed an hourly rate. I also have a great benefit package. Actually at this spa we have been busy all year round.

"I'm very happy with my decision to become a massage therapist even if I decide not to use this profession for the rest of my life… going through the program has changed me.

"I would tell students that are looking to work in the spa industry that it is a very good experience and you learn a lot about the industry in all aspects. Make sure you get out of it what you put into it.

Everybody asks me where I received my training… they comment that they like my technique and they can tell that I have gone to a very good school. I’m very glad that I chose to go to UCMT."
