Rachel Winslow

Rachel Winslow graduated from the Tempe, Arizona campus of the Utah College of Massage Therapy Family of Schools in May of 2001 from Tempe’s first class. Prior to graduating, Rachel had already begun the process of creating her business. In fact, in January 2001, only 3 short months after starting the program, Rachel had located a space, created a business name, created and printed business cards, contacted the AMTA regarding membership and contacted the City of Gilbert regarding licensure. Rachel now has a thriving business only 1 month after graduating. She recently sent the following letter to the Career Services Department:

"Well, my business has taken off! I am now up to an average of 3 massages a day, 7 days a week. I am working to cutting the days back to 5 a week. Right now though I have to respond to my clients needs only. I am doing very well; I get referrals all the time.

"I was recently offered [a position] to become a member of the Arizona Rattlers [an arena football team] staff as a pre and post game therapist. I am really excited about that. I have been working with quite a few professional athletes [including professional] fighters and [retired major league baseball pitcher,] Bruce Hurst and his family.

"I love what I am doing and things are really taking off. I am thinking that I will be at full capacity within 2-3 months. It has not taken long at all and word of mouth has been the best for getting new people. I offer a great referral program and I have also networked with several gyms and chiropractic offices in the area. It’s great!"
