Amy Page King

Amy Page King graduated from DA07 at the ASMT, Tempe campus of the Utah College of Massage Therapy Family of Schools in August of 2002. Immediately after graduating, Amy moved back to her home state of Idaho and began working as a therapist a few months later. She started her own practice and also began working in a day spa part-time. Amy submitted the following letter about her success to the Tempe Career Services office:

"I graduated August 7, 2002 from class DA07. Two days after graduation I moved back home to Burley, Idaho and two days after that I was engaged to be married on October 11. I did not do a lot of massage during that time; I was too busy planning a wedding.

"After I was married, it took my husband and I the rest of October to get settled into our apartment and back into life. November came and I decided it was time to start my career as a massage therapist. Idaho does not require a license of any kind to practice massage therapy. I decided to take my National Certification test anyway. I passed successfully thanks to the well-rounded education that this school provided for me. My insurance AMTA was effective December 1 and I began working.

"I lucked out in finding a place to set up my own practice. My father is a family practice doctor and works in a building with three other doctors. It just so happened that he had a room that I could use to get started, and for the last three months, I have been building up my clientele along with referrals from my dad. He and his office manager are in the process of getting insurance coverage for his patients to receive massage. I am so excited; massage is helping with so many of them.

"I also work part-time in a day spa with another massage therapist who graduated from UCMT, which is nice because I have someone to trade with and refer my clients to. I love doing regular Swedish massage, but my favorite is clinical. I love helping people.

"The most rewarding experiences were when I came home and was able to demonstrate on family members, especially my parents. I had no idea what massage was when I went to ASMT. To be honest, I did not realize that you had to undress completely; I had never received a massage before. Therefore, school was a shocker! However, I love it and my parents are impressed with everything I learned and how I have been able to help them.

"I love this work and I am very happy with the way things worked out for me. Thank you AMST for all your support and encouragement!"
